Recipient of Rector’s Award

We are proud to announce that our group has been awarded the “nagrodę II stopnia” by the University Rector. Congratulations to Prof. Bluyssen, Prof. Wesoły, Dr. Kluzek, and Dr. Eskandarian Boroujeni for contributing to this achievement!

EMBL Course on Single-Cell Sequencing

Our team member, Dr. Eskandarian Boroujeni, was selected and received an EMBL Grant to attend an advanced wet lab training and computational analysis of single-cell data taking place at EMBL Heidelberg, Germany. This workshop provided Dr. Eskandarian Boroujeni with the opportunity to further develop his skills and knowledge in this cutting-edge field.

Multiomics to Mechanisms

Dr. Eskandarian Boroujeni received an EMBO|EMBL Symposium fellowship to present his work titled “Genome-wide integrative analysis reveals the timely IFN-I-dependent induction of motif-specific genes in correlation with immune response progression” in an EMBO | EMBL Symposium: Multiomics to Mechanisms: Challenges in Data Integration taking place at Heidelberg, Germany 15 – 17 September 2021.

Passport to the Future

Our Ph.D. student, Aleksandra Antończyk, gave an oral presentation titled “Identification and characterization of ALEKSIN, novel pan-IRF inhibitory compound as a potential treatment strategy in cardiovascular disease (CVD)” at a conference organized as part of the project: Passport to the future -Interdisciplinary doctoral studies at the Faculty of Biology, Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznań.
Her work was partly supported by receiving a MiniGrant funded by the project entitled “Passport to the
future – Interdisciplinary doctoral studies at the Faculty of Biology UAM”. The aim of the project “Passport to the future – Interdisciplinary doctoral studies at the Faculty of Biology UAM” POWR.03.02.00-00-I006/17 is to increase the quality and effectiveness of education at the third-degree studies of the Faculty of Biology UAM by implementing the high-quality modernized interdisciplinary program of full-time
doctoral studies internationally in the field of biology, biotechnology, biochemistry, ecology, and environmental protection.

STAT Protein Inhibitor Database

We proudly present the first interactive database devoted to compounds inhibiting STAT signalling pathways.

What you can do:

  • Investigate compounds inhibiting directly/indirectly STAT proteins
  • Analyse experiments that were conducted for available inhibitors
  • See available 3D visualizations of docking to STAT-SH2 domains
  • Get information on clinical trials
  • Download data
  • See statistical analysis for investigated conditions

You can find STAT Inhbitor Biology and Drugability (SINBAD) here: SINBAD

PhD procedure opening

On 8th March 2019 our PhD candidate, Agata Michalska opened PhD procedure. She gave a presentation entitled “Characterization of a novel intracellular positive feedback loop that controls long-term responsiveness to type I and II IFN”.

You can see on the selfie how happy is Agata after the seminar  🙂 Good job!

Course in Warsaw, 18-22.02.2019

Our PhD students, Aleksandra Antończyk, Martyna Plens-Gałąska and Agata Michalska, participated in the course for researchers, who want to plan, design and/or conduct animal experiments. Lectures took place at the University of Warsaw Biological and Chemical Research Centre and were organized by Polish Laboratory Animal Science Association (PolLASA).

“Cytokines2018” in Boston, USA, 27-30.10.2018

On October 27 – 30 Martyna Plens-Gałąska from the Department of Human Molecular Genetics attended the conference “Cytokines2018” in Boston, USA.

Her poster was presented during the conference (“Identication and characterization of a novel multi-STAT inhibitory compound C01L_F03 with anti-atherosclerotic potential”).

8th Polish Illumina Symposium

On October 11-12th prof. Joanna Wesoly and members of the LHHTT and DHMG departments had the pleasure to host, for the 8th time, the Polish Illumina Symposium. The two-day symposium was rich with talks given by the specialists in the field of sequencing powered mainly by a range of Illumina platforms.
The talks were complemented by the Illumina and BIOKOM representatives updating the participants on the newest sequencing solutions.
We are very happy to have successfully hosted this event and hope to see you all next year!
